Located at the shore of the Merwede River and close to many shipbuilders and other industrial organizations, the Dutch town of Werkendam is home to a lot of industrial organizations. In this era, this must go hand in hand with a clear vision on our corporate social responsibility. Poly Products is happy to announce that we share this awareness in our region with 12 other companies, the local municipality and the Stimular Foundation, as they joined us in the Sustainability Association Werkendam to sign a Declaration of Intent aimed at making our sustainable ambitions tangible.
On behalf of the Stimular Foundation, Mr. Marc Herberigs supports this Sustainability Organization. All participating companies meet multiple times per year and cooperate to implement a powerful and realistic CSR policy; using tools such as the Environment Barometer (dutch). Our initial focus is aimed at the so called Quick Wins, areas identified with great opportunities to quickly reduce our consumption of water and energy, waste production and carbon emissions. Another important aspect is staff member awareness and external communication of our CSR policy.
The Declaration of Intent states that all members strive to attain an environmental performance improvement of at least 10% over the coming three years. Of course the horizon goes beyond that, as we want to be an example for a longer period of time. Based on the 3 P’s defined for CSR, People, Planet & Profit, each of the participating companies – supported by the Municipality of Werkendam – meticulously looks for ways to decrease our environmental impact while delivering maximum results to our customers.
