On November 24th 2011, Poly Products hosted the kick-off meeting of the Lighting User Group. A special reason for this event was the recent completion of the installation of an energy efficient T5 lighting system in one of our production halls.
As we have a large production location with six production halls, this new lighting system offers a considerable 52% reduction of energy consumption (over 35,000 kWh annually), which turns Poly Products into a front runner in the field of proactive energy saving.
NRK News reported the following about this event:
“Saving on lighting may sound quite easy, but the contrary is true. It’s therefore important to start with a clear plan, divided into phases. Participants of the Lighting User Group first make an inventory of all lighting facilities in their organization and identify improvement opportunities. In a next step, they create a list of required products and request proposals or publish a tender. Although this process is straightforward, a number of things could go wrong. Convincing the management for example, that this is a considerable priority amongst all other priorities they deal with on a daily basis, is a matter of behavioral management. However, the fruits of the labor are certainly worth the while, which was clearly proved while being shown around at the Poly Products location. The company has completed their first project and installed the energy efficient T5 lighting solutions in four of its production halls.”
